I got a little voice muttering "Miss kita" on my phone's headset. He mentioned that his skin is dry and peeling; it was his first experience of seeing his own skin falling away from his little pale shoulder. There was a tone of alarm, followed by Jody's soft whisper of comforting words. Just after he said "bye bye", he shouted "Teka teka, wag ka muna alis!", then he began telling his plans for the evening of us playing a game in the pc, then probably going to McDo playhouse.
A quick "I love you" was shouted followed by silence and splashing of water. I imagined Jody and Jas playing with the warm water while Jas would occasionally spray his mother with his water-gun toy. "Hello?" Jody happily said. I replied with a smiling hello. She said Jas missed me badly and requested for the call.
Funny that all of our discussions about sending Jas to school, and selecting a good one fitted for our budget, suddenly were replaced by the cheerful delight of a child full of dreams and potential. Enough reason to work hard again and to make sleepless busy days as happy as it can gets.
