I took a bit of it. Detail by detail, the sweet bitterness, xocolli, made my mouth watery. Like an addiction, I felt the delight of tasting every inch of the brown bar -- a food from the Aztec God of fertility.
Too much of an aphrodisiac, I thought.
It took me three bites to clear the plastic foil wrapper.
I nibble my finger, devouring every trails of sweetness. I opened my empty hand and stared at it as I licked the sides of my lips -- every corner of my teeth. The last taste resonated like an echo in my mouth. It was a sound of confusing scream.
I wanted more -- I needed more.
Then I walked towards the old lady before I could decide.
"Isang Hershey's bar pa nga po."

Dustfinger's flame
What if you suddenly wake up in another world, another realms where you are nothing but a fictional character?
What if you have the book of your life
written by an author,
destined to perish,
for the reader's delight?
Would you rather live a life of your choice,
or the world you know, doomed to and decided upon?
-------------------
These are probably the thoughts of Dustfinger, one of my favotire charaters, from the book Inkheart (Tintenherz) by Cornelia Funke.

The Jas Practice Exam Story
Once upon a time, there was a boy taking an exam at school. Then he went out the class smiling.
"Tapos na practice exam mo?" Jody said, wondering why Jas went earlier than the rest of the class.
"Yup.... Dali ng exam naman mama." The little boy said, as he walked away the room.
The week after that, he perfected the periodical exams.
Moral of the Story: walang batang mayabang...innocent and honest lang talaga sila :)

Wind and Water
I had may fair share of waves last week. I don't usually plunge in front of the deep sea, but the waves in the ocean was inviting. It was cold -- too cold for my shaking body. But I let my body be absorbed by the water. It took minutes for my brain to calibrate my senses, until I got numb enough for hypothermia.
Then when I was about to get up and surrender from the thermal battle, the wind blew like a joke. I stood there freezing from defeat and felt like the solemn sunset laughing at me. I laughed back and walked away feeling colder but happier.

Walking in Heaven: A Jas Story
While taking a stroll one evening, I told my son Jas that there will come a time that he will turn into a kuya, into a tito, into a dada, and finally into a lolo -- and by that time, I might be long gone to heaven.
Then he followed the trail of logic and said "then I'll die too, and will go to heaven." I nod in agreement, but he didn't end his thoughts. "We're all there in heaven, but I won't have a lola"
"Why won't you have a lola?" I asked curiously.
"Because I was a lolo", and there he ended our conversation.
Funny, how complex concepts make simple talks in our walks.

Rain Under the Boat

This is one of those sketches which started with a pixel and ended up in a story. Enjoy!
----
I never knew a boat in the middle of the lake would bond us forever. It wasn't a perfect weather for small sailing, but it was a perfect moment imprinted in my memory.
The rain was just starting to form -- and the water underneath us happily reacted: Water with water. Then I looked at my mother, and she was staring at me. "Put down the umbrella, the rain won't hurt you a bit", she said. I slowly followed, and I felt the small wet kisses of the dew and rain. I smiled back and let the worries be washed away.
We spent the afternoon laughing in between waters.

Thoughts Transcend Space
Have you ever experienced having certain connections with people through thoughts? I'm not sure if it's telepathy, telekinesis or one of those tele-tubbies, but it's remarkable how random thoughts could be shared.
Last night, before entertaining Sandman, I jumped across the thought of my father's relatives in Bicol. It occurred to me that papa hasn't seen them for a long time now -- and they're getting quite older. It's not a good moment to revisit people you love in their deathbeds. The idea made me shiver and my sleep was colder than usual.
The thought was washed away this morning while having breakfast, then out of nowhere Mama mentioned that papa would like to go to Bicol this year's Holy week. He was deep in thoughts last night.
I froze in mid sentence as my late night thoughts poured in. Along with it, I shivered.
