Awkward Silence
We stared with our peripheral vision
We succumbed on sad serious faces
We saw everything but not each other
Yet we actedas if we were watching one another
I said "Tara, punta na tayo" with a pretentious smile
She said "Tara", with the equivalent response
I slowly touched her palms as we walked
and carefully suggested my apology
she slid her fingers inside mine
and we clasped our hand
talking silent touches
We didn't speak
and it made all the difference
